The following is not a diet, merely
some tips for eating healthier, a general guideline.
Eat a variety of foods. The
larger the variety the better chance of obtaining essential nutrients
Maintain a healthy weight. Being either
underweight or overweight can lead to some serious health conditions
Moderate
the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Alcoholic beverages are high in calories and low in nutrients. You
should also remember that many medications cannot be taken with
alcohol.
Moderate your consumption of salt. Excessive
amounts of sodium can aggravate high blood pressure. Sodium is
found in the salty foods we eat and the salty seasonings we use to enhance
the taste of food.
To lower your risk of heart disease you should choose a
diet low in saturated fats, fat, and cholesterol.
Moderate use of sugars will not only reduce the
chance of tooth decay, it will eliminate calories. Being diabetic I
use Splenda for sweetener. I think it tastes more like sugar then the
other substitutes. It is a little bit more expensive though.
By choosing a diet with an abundance
of vegetables, fruits,
and grain products you can have a healthier eating style. Increasing
the starch and fiber can lessen the fat in your diet, an improved eating
style, and improved bowel movement.
