Add CIA and KGB officers, all top rated (and Female) and place them under command of a British specialist who has no command experience.
These 400 have been selected to raid a Pashti space station. There is one problem. Humans are on the interdicted list, absolutely no contact allowed. They are too barbaric, they love killing too much. Add to this the Ahimsa Overone that (by Ahimsa standards) is obviously insane, a creature who, so the rumors go, was alive at the creation of the universe (the past time of which is contemplating the universe) and a human crew with the normal hates of those that were brought up in the US/USSR cold war situation. Add the fact that the Overone, Wide cannot be trusted, and has allowed the Earth to enter WW III.
This is a very good book and one that I would recommend that you read if you haven't.
