This page will be basically where you introduce yourself to the people who visit your web site, let them know what is going on. It will be your home on the internet. You give your URL to your clients or whoever you wish to visit your home page. The URL is your address on the internet. It is the directions for your visitors web browser to follow to reach your site. This URL will be in the general form as the following : http://creekdesigns.com/index2.html which is the URL to the page where you began this session. This is also the home page for the design portion of my web site.
Note, unless indicated otherwise a URL like the one above will take you to a real web page.
The LINK above is in blue and is a clickable link which will take you to the home page as described above. If you do so use your browsers back button to return here to continue this tour of how a website works. A link makes it easy to navigate around a web site and saves you from having to enter the address URL manually. If you have visited the page the link is pointing to you will find the link is purple in color which indicates that you have visited that page before. There are times when that will not be a true statement , like after emptying your cache and history files but we won't go into that here.
A typical use of this page would be used to give a brief overview of you and your services, and maybe a welcoming message to those that have entered your site.
You would also wish some type of MENU to be placed here so your guests can navigate to the rest of your web site.
A simple menu could look something like this below. Don't bother clicking on it though, it doesn't go anywhere. An example of a more complex menu can be found by clicking on the link above and viewing the top of the page. You may want to bookmark that page just in case you get lost. <grin>
